Bernard Arnold

Bernard Arnold of Parkland, Florida died on December 13, 2019 at the age of 93. Bernie was born on March 10, 1926 in Worcester, Massachusetts, son of Jacob and Rose Arnold (nee Sapiro) and brother of Leonard Arnold. He graduated from Worcester's Classical High School and then Clark University with a bachelor's degree in Business. After graduation, Bernie went into business with his father, running Arnold Coat Company and Arco Sportswear in Worcester, and met his future wife, Jeanne Gerstein. He served in the US Army as a supply sergeant stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, Bernie and Jeanne married and he resumed his work in the wholesale and retail clothing business. They settled in Worcester and raised two sons, David and Steven. Vivacious and extroverted, Bernie loved his work, its travels and developing relationships with people throughout the northeast. After the untimely death of their son David (z"l), Bernie and Jeanne moved to Broward County, Florida in 1979 where they spent the rest of his life, working and then traveling in retirement. He was active in synagogue affairs, serving as President of Temple Sholom of Pompano Beach. Bernie is survived by Jeanne, his wife of 67 years, his son Steven Arnold and daughter-in-law Reisa Mukamal of Swarthmore, PA, his grandsons Zachary Arnold (Molly Wasser) of Tacoma Park, MD, and Benjamin Arnold (Emalie Clamage) and Samuel Arnold of Philadelphia, PA, and he was predeceased by his grandson, Noah Arnold (z"l). A graveside interment service for family and friends will be held on December 16, 2019 at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Sholom of Pompano Beach or The American Heart Association.
