Dr. Alan G. Schwartz's Obituary
Alan G. Schwartz
April 6, 1964 - June 10, 2022
Dr. Alan G. Schwartz, of Fort Lauderdale, was born in New Hyde Park, NY to Iris and Burt Schwartz. He was a loving husband to his wife of 30 years, Ilene. They bonded over their love of the Grateful Dead, and together they enjoyed traveling with their two loving children, Harrison and Hannah. He is also survived by his brothers Steven and Bobby, his brother-in-law Gary, his sisters-in-law Kathleen and Sally, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. His childhood friends, with whom he maintained lifelong friendships, mourn alongside Alan's family as well.
Alan graduated from Herricks High School in 1982, Union College in 1986, and SUNY Downstate Medical School in 1990. He completed his residency and fellowships at North Shore University Hospital in 1996. He practiced Pulmonary/Critical Care medicine early in his career, followed by Addiction medicine later in his career.
He was known by his patients for his empathetic and compassionate nature and for always being committed to their care. His family and friends will remember him as someone who would drop everything to be there when they needed him, for being the life of the party and making everyone roar with laughter, and for his resiliency when faced with adversity.
