Abuelo,
Thank you for always being there for me. In the 23 years I was blessed to have you, I will cherish the memories we shared forever. Every vacation, every baseball game, every holiday, every celebration, every visit to your house, are all things I never took lightly.
A moment I will never forget is when I called you on your 80th Birthday and expressed my regret for not being able to make it to your celebration dinner. Little did anyone outside of my parents and Tyler and Lexi know that I had driven home the night before to surprise you at your party. The smile on your face when you saw me is one I will forever have engraved in my memory.
A couple months later, the Chicago Cubs would win their first World Series in 108 years. As I watched Kris Bryant make that unforgettable throw to Anthony Rizzo, it brought me great happiness knowing that you had finally seen your Cubbies win a championship.
Right now I bet you are the happiest you've ever been. You are with the King of Kings in a place where there is no pain, there is no fear, there is no stress, and there is no sadness. Whenever things get tough out here in Louisiana, I will take to heart the fact that I have you watching down over me and that you will be with me in every endeavor I undertake.
I will honor your memory in every sport I play, every test I take, in my marriage, as a father, as a grandfather, and in everything I do in my daily life.
Bendición, Abuelo. I love you.
Go Cubs.
