Allen Sandler's Obituary
Allen Sandler passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024 at his home at Sinai Residences in Boca Raton, after 91 wonderful years. He was born on December 3, 1932 in Boston, MA to Viola and Max and was the younger brother of Sidney. He graduated from Brookline High School and Colby College with a Bachelor’s degree in history, and soon joined the family business, Sandler of Boston. At 29, he married Abby, the love of his life.
In 1972, he moved to Hollywood, FL and quickly became a fixture in the community. He loved his Jewish heritage and community, and served on the Board of Directors and as President of Temple Solel from 1979-1980. He spent his career as a business owner and manufacturer’s representative to the floral industry. He was adored by his customers.
Allen lived life to the fullest. He loved everyone and everyone adored him. He enjoyed traveling, entertaining, and sharing his stories and life’s lessons with family and friends. He will be remembered as the life of the party (as well as throwing his own rocking parties), his love of Pinot Grigio and Hershey Kisses and above all for his belief that family is not just important, but is everything.
Allen is survived by his three children--Jeffrey (Stacy), Nancy (Greg) Gefen, and Robert; and his six grandchildren—Matthew (Olivia), Benjamin (Laura), Abby (Jordan), Andrew, Douglas and Joshua.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Beth David Levitt Weinstein Memorial Gardens, located at 3201 N. 72nd Ave, Hollywood, FL 33024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Solel (http://www.templesolel.com) or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (http://www.dana-farber.org/gift).
