Arline Lillian Babchick's Obituary
Arline Lillian Babchick, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born on January 15, 1933, Arline was the devoted mother of Ralph Saxe and Beth Johnson. She was the cherished grandmother of Bryan Saxe, Daniel Johnson, David Johnson, and Molly Smith, and the proud great-grandmother of ten great-grandchildren, with one more lovingly expected — a baby girl who will be named Lillian in honor of her great-grandmother, Arline Lillian Babchick.
Arline is also survived by her dear nieces Karen, Janet, Sandy, Lillian, Leah, Carrie, and Tammy and her nephews Bob, David, Danny and Johnny. Karen held a particularly special place in Arline’s heart; though aunt and niece by relation, they grew up more like sisters. Their bond, formed when Karen was just six and Arline seventeen, remained strong and meaningful throughout their lives.
Arline married her first husband, Harvey Saxe, on June 27, 1950, and they shared a loving life together in Massachusetts until his passing on October 15, 1979, when she relocated to Pembroke Pines, Florida. In the early 1980s, Arline met and married Eugene Babchick, with whom she shared many happy years until his passing on March 1, 2023.
After Eugene's passing, Arline moved into the home of her son Ralph and daughter in law Sheri, who lovingly created a bedroom for her in their condo and took exceptional care of her. Arline often spoke about how grateful she was for their support, and she especially loved Ralph's cooking. He made her dinner every night, and she frequently told others how wonderful it was. One of her greatest joys during this time was sitting on their porch overlooking the pond, watching the wildlife while reading a book or sketching. Those peaceful moments brought her immense comfort and happiness. While living at Ralph's she also made a nice friend, Belle who she loved to go on walks with.
Arline was exceptionally talented and creative. A gifted oil painter, her artwork hangs proudly in the homes of her children, grandchildren, and extended family. She also had a passion for sewing and once kept a full sewing room in her home in Newton, Massachusetts, where she crafted beautiful clothing and handmade pieces for those she loved. Arline loved ceramics and created countless beautiful pieces that her family treasures to this day. Arline enjoyed an active lifestyle, especially playing tennis and swimming, activities that brought her joy throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving brother, Albert, and her sister, Millie.
Arline will be remembered for her warmth, strength, creativity, and devotion to her family. She leaves behind countless beautiful works of art that continue to fill the homes of those who loved her and her memory will remain forever in the hearts and minds of all whose lives she touched.
Funeral service to take place graveside; December 5, 2025 1:30pm at Beth David Memorial Gardens (Hollywood, FL). In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions in Arline's honor be made to the Alzheimer's Association (https://alz.org)
