Benjamin A Kough's Obituary
Benjamin A. Kough, 77, passed away on July 19, 2024, in Boca Raton, Florida. Born on May 11, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, Ben's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his passion for adventure, and a distinguished career.
Benjamin was a loving husband to Lynn and a proud father to Matthew and Todd. His joy was multiplied as an adoring grandfather to Justin. He also held a special place in his heart for his nephews and nieces Jeremy, Matthew, Bryan, Shane, Garrett, Sarah, Jon, Isabelle, Kevin, Kara, Lauren, and Lindsey. His role as an obsessed dog dad to Winston and Trixie brought him immense happiness.
Ben graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1965 and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Ocean Engineering from Florida Atlantic University in 1973. His professional life was as vibrant as his personal life, having served in the U.S. Army for three years. He then embarked on a career as an ocean engineer, performing ocean survey work. His commitment to public service was evident during his 10 years with the Deerfield Beach Fire Department, where he also served as the Firefighters Union president. Following his firefighting career, Ben established multiple engineering enterprises.
Ben's adventurous spirit shone through his hobbies which included firefighting, scuba diving, skydiving, hang gliding, woodworking, and fishing. He was a superfan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and enjoyed frequent visits to Arkansas.
He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Boca Raton, where his life will be celebrated on August 14th at 6 p.m.
Ben is survived by his wife, Lynn; sons, Matthew and Todd (Kathy); grandson, Justin; brother, Barry (Janet); sister, Belinda (Ken); and brother-in-law, Chris (Chris Farrow). He was preceded in death by his father, Ben A. Kough Sr., mother, Betsy Holt, and sister, Bette Jean Noble.
