Boots J. Fox's Obituary
Boots J. Fox, long-time resident of Palm Beach Gardens, FL formerly of Cincinnati, OH, died peacefully on April 29, 2022, surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of Robert L. Fox (deceased), and mother of Elaine Barnes of Oberlin, OH, Pamela Fox of Chicago, IL and Dan Fox of Tampa, FL. In addition to her three children, she leaves her brother Irvin Martin Kraus, sister-in-law Marcia Kraus, sister-in-law Anne Fox, nieces Melissa (Simeon) Schwarz and Shelley (Daniel) Edelstein; nieces Valerie, Eleanor, and Avieanna, as well as dozens of beloved friends.
Boots was known for her effervescent personality and her great love of children. She was an artful soul who had a unique way of seeing the world, leaving everything more beautiful than she found it. She loved going to museums, watching musical theater, and especially gardening. One of her proudest accomplishments was developing a very small literacy program at the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County to one of the largest and most successful reading programs in the history of Palm Beach County. In her work, she grew the volunteer pool of Reading Partners from a small group of 50 to over 400 proud. She created a reading library with hundreds of donated books and her tireless efforts reached thousands of children.
We will miss her laugh, her tenacity, and her authenticity. She was not always easy, but she was always striving to be known. She taught us all about grit, joy, and love.
In Lieu of Flowers, please consider a donation to the Anne & Sam Klein Literacy Program of the Jewish Federation of Palm Beach County, the Alzheimer’s Association, or the Ames Family Hospice House at Hospice of the Western Reserve.
“In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” ~ Anne Frank.
