Boris Hirschhorn's Obituary
After living in Boca Raton for 39 years, Boris died at the age of 96 on April 30, 2020. He was an adoring and dedicated husband to his beloved wife of 62 years, Joyce, who pre-deceased him in 2007. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, Uncle, and friend.
Boris was born in Brooklyn, NY. During WW2 he served in France. He held degrees from Brooklyn College and Columbia University. He lived in Oceanside, New York on Long Island for many years where he and Joyce raised their family-son Sandy, daughter Ricky and son Larry. He was a successful child psychologist, teacher, and school administrator w/ the Oceanside Public School System.
For many years he and his family spent summers at a little bungalow on the Delaware River in Milford, PA which he absolutely loved as his sanctuary. When he retired at the young age of 57, he and Joyce moved to Boca Raton, Florida where he enjoyed the warm weather and the many social aspects of condo living.
Boris was a true people person who loved getting to know his family and friends through many discussions often around the table at cocktail hour with a martini in his hand. He was an avid traveler and with Joyce visited many corners of the world with cruises being their favorite mode of travel. He was a life-long learner and enjoyed reading (or listening) to books on tape and listening to music, especially Judy Garland.
He is survived by his three children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. His voice may now be silenced but his vitality for life and his loving presence will be remembered by his family and friends in their memories forever.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander-Levitt Funerals & Cremations 8135 W. McNab Road Tamarac, FL 33321.
