Carmita Tessier's Obituary
Carmita Tessier was born on November 19, 1937, in the small town of Tessier, on the land that bears her family’s name in Jérémie, Haiti. She was the fourth child and the first daughter of Florine Mith and Camille https://Tessier.She lived a life rich in love and deeply rooted in devotion—to both her Catholic faith and her family. A constant beacon of support, Carmita pledged her life to raising and uplifting children. Her dedication extended far beyond her own; she lovingly helped raise her beloved nieces and other relatives, always encouraging them to pursue education and follow their dreams. Through her nurturing spirit and tireless care, she created an environment where love, discipline, and possibility thrived. Her impact spans generations.
Tatie Carmie was full of wisdom and wit, known for delivering tough love wrapped in warmth and grace. Her zest for life meant she loved to have fun—and she did! If you knew Ta Ta, you knew she loved her food flavorful and spicy, her music lively, and her drinks strong. She had a gift for turning the most ordinary moments into songs, effortlessly creating catchy tunes from daily life. Her storytelling was legendary—her words could transport you through time, always accompanied by a warm, welcoming smile.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Carmita is survived by her children, grandchildren, many nieces, siblings, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Florine and Camille Tessier, her brothers Maxant, Yves, Octave, and her sister Marie-Thérèse Tessier
A celebration of Carmita's life will be held at Alexander-Levitt Funeral & Cremations on Saturday, September 13, 2025 8am-11am. Entombment to follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
