Donald (Donnie) F. Murray's Obituary
Donald (Donnie) F. Murray, 66, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 20, 2021, in Margate, Florida, just a few days shy of his 67th birthday. On any other year, he would have spent his birthday surrounded by friends at a local restaurant or bar, forever the life of the party. He always made people at ease, providing a laugh or a shoulder to lean on, and never turned down an adventure. The adventure he was most excited for was becoming a grandfather, and though he won’t be able to meet his grandson in this life, we know he’s looking over him from the next one.
Donnie was born in Somerville, Massachusetts, to Arthur and Ruth Murray, and he moved to South Florida in 1989, a place that would therein be his home. Through the years Donnie worked as a truck driver, show promoter, and contractor, but his favorite jobs were as a bartender and cook, where he could be surrounded by people, ensuring they were having a good time, and making them all feel welcomed and cared for in the process.
Donnie is survived by his daughter, Samantha A. Murray and her husband, Adam Chitwood, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his brother, Arthur Murray and his wife, Barbara, of North Reading, Massachusetts; his nephews, Daniel Catino of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Dennis Catino and his wife, Kimberley, of Greenville, Texas; and his former wife, Catherine Murray, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; as well as a score of friends and found family that he made throughout the years up and down the Eastern Seaboard.
We will never stop thinking of him and his love of cooking, New England sports, and having a laugh. He will be greatly missed by all.
