Ernest "Ernie" Michaelson's Obituary
Ernest (Ernie) Michaelson, 96, of Tamarac, Florida, passed away on February 29, 2024 in his home.
Ernie was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Harry and Dina Michaelson. While attending Monticello High School where he graduated in 1945, he met the love of his life, Janet, and they were married in 1948. They celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary just a few days prior to Janet’s passing in 2022.
Ernie is survived by his son Marc (Debbie) of Smyrna, Tennessee, his grandchildren Corey (Nina), Jay (Allison) & Amy; his son Steven (Susan) of Sunrise, Florida, his grandson Jeremy (Ali); and his son Robert (Maria) of Hollywood, Florida, and his grandchildren Alan and Keith. Ernie adored all of his great grandchildren: Kaitlynn, Owen, Zachary, Elise, Elliot, Hailey, and Lily. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Termine of Pembroke Pines, Florida.
Ernie, along with Janet, opened up their own business in 1962, called Ernie’s TV, in Hollywood, Florida, where they operated the business until they retired in 2008. Spending time with his family was where he derived the most pleasure. He was a master of fixing anything that was broken. Ernie & Janet were inseparable and as long as they were together, it didn’t matter what they were doing.
A memorial service was held on March 4, 2024, where he was laid to rest at the Beth David Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, Florida.
Ernie’s family thanks Alan Michaelson, Ernie’s grandson, for the love and 24/7 care he provided to his grandfather during the last three years of his life. It was a monumental task, especially for a grandson.
