Harry B. Meran's Obituary
Harry Bruce Meran, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home in Boca Raton, FL on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the age of 75.
Harry put up a great fight against multiple cancers the past few years of his life and was incredibly thankful for the time he got to spend with all his family and close friends during that time. He is survived by his loving wife for over 51 years, Linda, their three children, Andy, Jeff and Marc, daughters-in-law, Beth, Kari and Suzanne, and six granddaughters, Sara, Tory, Reese, Remi, Eva and Liv.
Harry was born to Albert and Elsie Meran on May 27, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA. He lived his childhood in Lower Merion, PA and graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in 1969 before graduating top of his class at Temple Law School in 1972. He met Linda at Penn and they dated, and ultimately married, during law school in 1971.
Harry started his career as an attorney in Philadelphia and ultimately relocated the family to Boca Raton, FL in 1989, where his entrepreneurial nature led him into many different business ventures. He ultimately teamed up with his son Marc to start The Meran Group and formed a thriving financial advisory and wealth management practice in Boca Raton which Marc will continue to run.
Harry was a dedicated Philadelphia and South Florida sports fan and rooted on his favorite teams right up until his passing. He loved all sports, especially basketball, golf and tennis, and took tremendous pride in coaching all of his children’s sports teams throughout the years. He was an avid reader, loved to travel with friends and family, and loved his wine.
Above all, Harry was a family man and absolutely adored his granddaughters. His biggest regret was not being able to see them grow, know where they will go to college and watch them create families of their own. Harry’s legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren, who all feel incredibly lucky and privileged to have had Harry in their lives.
In Harry’s memory, donations can be made to the Matthew Forbes Romer Foundation at http://www.mfrfoundation.org.
