Idia Nadal's Obituary
Idia Nadal (Maiden Name: Idia Lafontaine Nieves) entered into rest Wednesday, October 14, 2025. She was born on November 11, 1931 in Santurce, Puerto Rico. Her parents were Luis Lafontaine and Maria Lina Nieves. Her mother died shortly after her birth and was raised by her stepmother Julia Vazquez and was an only child. She was married and divorced from John Nadal Senior and was married for 35 years.
Idia is survived by her two sons John Nadal of Pembroke Pines, Florida and Walter Nadal of Memphis, Tennessee. She was predeceased by her daughter Idia Morla.
Idia has seven grandchildren: Stephens Morla, Sean Morla, Jayson Nadal, Danielle Nadal (Brunner), Seth Morla, Jessica Nadal (Weaver) and Kristine Nadal (Audas); five great-grandsons: Luna Audas, Jaydon Nadal, Zachary Brunner, Jayse Nadal, Christian Weaver, and Cortland Weaver.
She graduated from Central High School in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She resided in Puerto Rico and also lived in Wesport, Conetticut; New York City; Atlanta, Georgia; Tallahassee, Florida; and Miami, Florida.
Idia worked for many organizations including Puerto Rico Telephone CO., Michael Lith Inc., Argonaut Insurance Co., New York City Housing Authority, Puerto Rico Housing Authority, and Internal Revenue Service from which she retired.
Idia enjoyed watching Spanish TV, reading, Ceramic Painting, traveling, cross stiching, painting and had an extensive collection of clown paintings and figurines.
There will be a celebration of life held at Alexander-Levitt Funeral & Cremations on October 30, 2025 1:00pm-5:00pm.
Idia Nadal (apellido de soltera: Idia Lafontaine Nieves) falleció el miércoles 14 de octubre de 2025. Nació el 11 de noviembre de 1931 en Santurce, Puerto Rico. Sus padres fueron Luis Lafontaine y María Lina Nieves. Su madre falleció poco después de su nacimiento y fue criada por su madrastra, Julia Vázquez, siendo hija única. Estuvo casada y divorciada de John Nadal padre, y estuvo casada durante 35 años.
A Idia le sobreviven sus dos hijos, John Nadal, de Pembroke Pines, Florida, y Walter Nadal, de Memphis, Tennessee. Le precedió en la muerte su hija Idia Morla.
Idia tiene siete nietos: Stephens Morla, Sean Morla, Jayson Nadal, Danielle Nadal (Brunner), Seth Morla, Jessica Nadal (Weaver) y Kristine Nadal (Audas); cinco bisnietos: Luna Audas, Jaydon Nadal, Zachary Brunner, Jayse Nadal, Christian Weaver y Cortland Weaver.
Se graduó de la Escuela Secundaria Central en Santurce, Puerto Rico. Residió en Puerto Rico y también vivió en Westport, Connecticut; Nueva York; Atlanta, Georgia; Tallahassee, Florida; y Miami, Florida.
Idia trabajó para diversas organizaciones, entre ellas Puerto Rico Telephone Company, Michael Lith Inc., Argonaut Insurance Company, la Autoridad de Vivienda de la Ciudad de Nueva York, la Autoridad de Vivienda de Puerto Rico y el Servicio de Impuestos Internos (IRS), donde se jubiló.
A Idia le gustaba ver la televisión en español, leer, pintar cerámica, viajar, bordar en punto de cruz, pintar y tenía una extensa colección de cuadros y figuras de payasos.
