Irene Ruth Bernstein's Obituary
Irene Bernstein born to Harry and Dorothy Bluestein, siblings to Shirley, Faye, Sandra, and Mel. Her lifelong marriage to Norman ended when he passed in Feb. 1995. She is survived by their 2 sons, Ted and Mark, along with wives Pilar and Lisa, Grandkids Lauren and Steve Tilden, Gabe and Anna Maul, and great grandchildren Lucia, Benji, Maren, and Winslowe.
Irene was actively involved with her community through the B'nai Brith, bowling league, and many charitable organizations. She helped Norman succeed in his vending business in Detroit and developed her own billing and accounting clientele when they moved to Chicago. Always good with numbers and games, Irene mastered Mahjong and helped many women as she tutored them learning the game. She played all card games and was usually the only female in the all male poker game. She was always invited back so they could try to win their money back.
At the Patios in Boca Raton she took over responsibilities to oversee the entertainment and booked many great acts. Ted was always there to coordinate lights and introductions. The productions led to many successful and fun shows. Her natural smile and grace made it comfortable to interact with all she encountered. Always comfortable around people she made many friends with lifelong connections.
She will be missed by all that knew her and will be remembered with fond memories. She inspired the future generations she raised.
