John (Jack) D Schnupp's Obituary
John “Jack” Schnupp was born in the Brentwood area of Pittsburgh, PA. April 11, 1929. He passed away on May 23, 2019. He was the son of the late Raymond and Grace Schnupp. Brother to the late Edwin Schnupp and the late Russell Starline. He was husband of the late Laura.
Jack learned to play Trombone at Brentwood High School, with the encouragement of his High School Band Leader. After high school he entered the Service as a member of the U.S. Navy Band and later, The U.S. Air Force as a member of The Airmen of Note.
Settling with his young family, in New York, he worked for American Airlines while pursuing a career in the music industry. Becoming a member of Local 802, Jack joined the Orchestra at Radio City Music Hall in 1963. He also formed The John Scott Orchestra. Jack played many “gigs” in and around the New York Metropolitan Area and beyond. He retired from Radio City Music Hall, in 2006, and moved to Florida.
Jack is survived by his five children. Linda Schnupp, Patricia Nunley, John Schnupp, David Schnupp and Michael (Jeanne) Schnupp. There are nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his close friend Emma Teran.
