In Loving Memory of Laverne Francis May 7, 1952 – May 15, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Laverne Francis, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. A proud resident of Tamarac, Florida, and originally from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Laverne led a life of strength, wisdom, and unwavering love.
A distinguished chef, she carried herself with grace and commanded respect, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of leadership, kindness, and compassion will remain in the hearts of those she touched.
Laverne is survived by her devoted husband, Alcano Francis, and her cherished children, Lorelei, Jeffrey, and Tammika Francis. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Iris Andrews, six adoring grandchildren Charles Moore III, Akihrie, Akahro, Cionay Chiverton, and Nsia Mitchell, two precious great-grandchildren Akiera and Akihris Chiverton, and a large and beloved extended family of nieces, nephews Jessica Bland, Mickey Samuel, Ena Fisher, Abigail Cornelius, Rita Warner-Smith, Charlayne Williams, Clayton Samuel, Celeste Warner and Donald Warner; Two dear sister-in-laws Evelyn Mason, and Velma Thomas; as well as many great-nieces, and great-nephews. Laverne also leaves behind her dear special friends Pearl Powell, Trichina Moore, Terah McKinney and George Chiverton.
She will be remembered for the love she shared, the wisdom she imparted, and the strength she embodied. While she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire generations to come.
A celebration of Laverne’s life will be held at a later date. May she rest in eternal peace, forever surrounded by the love she so graciously gave.
