Leon Nudelman's Obituary
Our dad, Leon Nudelman, passed peacefully into the spirit world last night at home, with Scott by his side. He was 86.
Anyone who knew Leon knew how much he loved life. He had a childlike spirit and more energy and enthusiasm than people half his age. Even just a few weeks ago, he was still going strong, riding his bike, fixing things, and always on the move. He truly was our very own Energizer Bunny. But eventually, even his batteries ran down.
Over the past month, we were blessed with the chance to spend incredible quality time with him and say our goodbyes. He was always happiest when surrounded by his grandchildren, and he never hesitated to help when someone called. "Hey Leon, my TV isn’t working" or "My computer’s acting up"—he’d be out the door in a flash. He always said, “I go where I’m needed.”
We imagine that somewhere, our Creator is having trouble with a laptop—so into the light Dad went, ready to lend a hand.
Leon had a long and fulfilling career at CBS and 60 Minutes, where he got to do what he loved—and travel the world doing it. His work took him to places like Somalia, Moscow, and Paris. That Paris trip was especially memorable, as he got to share it with Eric.
In the late '70s and early ‘80s, he spent time managing Phil’s band, Crosswind, loving every minute of it. It was the perfect excuse to be around family and enjoy music and laughter together.
Leon also worked side by side with Scott in the TV repair business—though Scott eventually realized it wasn’t his path, it was time well spent together.
Each of us—Phil, Scott, and Eric—had our own special relationship with our dad, and our own unique memories we’ll cherish forever.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask for donations to Trustbridge Hospice, whose staff were some of the most compassionate people we've ever met. They cared for our dad with incredible dignity and love, all the way to his final breath. https://trustbridge.com/give/
We’ll see you in our dreams and carry you in our hearts, Dad. You’ll always be with us.
Funeral service to take place on Thursday, July 10, 2025 12:00pm at Levitt Weinstein/Beth David Memorial Gardens.
