Lydia Pineiro's Obituary
Lydia Pineiro of Delray Beach, Florida formerly of Hallandale Beach, FL passed away on December 24, 2020 at the age of 80 years. She was married to the love of her life Jose (Pepe) for 47 years. Loving mother of Andrew (Jennifer) Pineiro and Alicia Pineiro, Cherished grandmother of 2 granddaughters Jillian and Josie, dear sister of David Metlika.. Predeceased by her mother Betty Metlika and father John Metlika and brother Robert “Bob “ Metlika. She was a graduate of University of Miami and sang with the Singing Hurricanes, also appeared on the Ed Sullivan show with the Singing Hurricanes. In 1996 she retired as a music teacher from Broward County after 35 years of service. While teaching she produced and directed seasonal school shows to include all students in every grade and class. She was also a travel agent. Lydia was active with the Congregation Beth David choir for high holidays for several years followed by lunch with the cantor. Sang in Greenland and performed in USO Tours as well as sang in opera groups - one of her favorites was La Traviata. She was an active member in the Pap Corps Three Islands Aquarius Cancer Chapter, was a Board Member, held positions of Luncheon Chairperson and VP of Marketing and Communications and was also Woman of the Year 2008-2009. Member of the Jewish Heritage Club. Lydia was very socially active with friends and loved the arts, theater/broadway, cruises, casinos, and shopping.
