Mayer, Marilyn's Obituary
Marilyn Mayer, age 81, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, due to losing her battle with leukemia. She was born July 10, 1943 in Astoria, NY to Murry and Lillian Mayer. She loved life and fought for every second until she passed with her daughter, Stacie Dominelli, by her side.
Marilyn attended Andrew Jackson High School in Queens, NY. She began her career as an associate at Palm Aire Resort in Pompano Beach, Florida where she worked for many years in hotel management and catering until transferring to Marriott Hotels in Fort Lauderdale. She received many accolades throughout her employment for being a shining employee and always maintaining a positive attitude under stressful conditions. This was recognized by her being awarded Employee of the Year on multiple occasions.
Marilyn's commitment to her family was evident through her later years spending most of her time caring for each one of her grandchildren. She made her best effort to attend every recital and sporting event possible until her final years while battling cancer.
In her free time Marilyn enjoyed watching old black and white movies, reading romance novels and spending time with her family and friends. Her mind was sharp and she had a memory like an elephant. She loved to reminisce and talk about her life in the good old days. With her vivacious personality, she was fun to be around, made people laugh, and always made friends wherever she went.
Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, strength and determination. She is survived by her children, Noel Gluck, Lori Greenberg and Stacie Dominelli; her sister, Carole Baum; and her cherished grandchildren, Morgan, Brooke and Gavin.
The funeral service will be held at Levitt-Weinstein, 3201 North 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, Florida 33024 on Friday, August 2nd, 2024 at 12:00PM; and will be officiated by Lawrence M. Schuval. She will be placed to rest following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Marilyn Mayer will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her grace, loyalty, kindness and witty sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
