Marshall Hopkins Lewis' Obituary
Marshall Lewis, born in Norfolk, VA, on June 29, 1943, passed away on March 7, 2025. She lived with her parents until their divorce, after which she resided with her father and grandmother. During her childhood, she moved to Annapolis, MD, to be with her mother and stepfather, Hope Zedaker and Bill Zedaker, Sr. She spent her teen years enjoying life as the eldest of seven siblings.
In high school, Marshall met her first husband, Charles Hopkins, Sr., whom she married after graduating from Annapolis High School. They moved to Towson, MD, and had two children while both worked hard to continue their educations. After her husband graduated from college and began his successful career, Marshall herself began attending college and graduated from Towson State College in 1975 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Art.
Marshall went on to work as a medical secretary and eventually became a social worker. After their divorce, she remarried Garth Lewis, Chief Petty Officer of the British Royal Navy. They moved to Broward County, Florida, in the 1990s, where she continued her education towards her Master's degree. Marshall made friends and acquaintances wherever she went and enjoyed helping people. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her cats.
Marshall overcame health challenges and always enjoyed drawing, painting, listening to live music, and especially enjoying the beaches of sunny South Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband Garth Lewis; Parents Hope Zedaker and Charles Collier, and Siblings Charles Collier, Cassius Zedaker, and Faith Zedaker.
