Martin Weingel's Obituary
Martin (Marty) Weingel
May 22, 1925 - January 6, 2021
Son, Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and friend to many.
WWII Veteran, Restauranteur, Pizza Maker, Coffee Shop Owner, and Bridge Tender in retirement.
Brooklyn, NY; Sunrise, FL; Plantation, FL; Boynton Beach, FL; San Diego, CA; National City, CA; and Chula Vista, CA.
Tough as nails, he softened with age.
At 95+ he had a good long run. He gave a lot of people hell along the way, but always with a smile.
Not an overly sophisticated guy - although he did teach his boys how to tie a tie - he certainly was inquisitive, curious, and engaged.
Some Marty-isms we’ll remember him for:
“Heh!”
“Yeah no”
Q: You hungry? A: “Eh, I’m sociable”
“There’s always people doing better than you, and always people doing worse than you. Be happy where you are.”
We believe he’s at peace now, and hope that his spirit is with his wife Ruth - our mom, aunt, and grandma - and all those that went before him. We’re blessed to have had him in our lives, and we miss him already.
Marty is survived by his sons Mitch (Robyn) and Marc (Andrea); grandchildren Curtis (Alyssa), Matthew (Jessica), and Jennifer; great-grandchildren Carli, Kynslei, Pheonix, and Clara; and niece Patti and nephew Jay (Rachel).
Love ya Pops. We’ll miss you, but know that you taught us well and that we’ll be ok.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 2:15pm at Star of David Memorial Gardens 7701 Bailey Rd, North Lauderdale, FL 33068. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander-Levitt Funerals & Cremations 8135 W. McNab Road Tamarac, FL 33321.
