Mortimer Benjamin's Obituary
Mortimer (Morty) Lewis Benjamin died peacefully on December 3, 2021.
Morty was a proud Army Veteran and served for 35 years in Law Enforcement as an agent, investigator and inspector. During his career as a federal Narcotics agent, he helped break landmark cases including the case upon which the French Connection movie was made. As an Inspector for the State of Florida he investigated and resolved improprieties for the Pari-Mutuel Wagering Division and for the Department of Health and Rehabilitative services.
He truly lived the biblical dictum, “Justice, Justice Shall you pursue.”
But more important to Morty than his professional career was his commitment to family. He was supremely devoted to his wife of 61 years, Sheila (Z’’L), to his children Michael (Hilary) and Jon, his grandchildren, Nathan, Kayla, Joey, Jenna and Isaac, and his niece Nancy (Richard).
