Paul "Payce" Greenstein's Obituary
Paul "Payce" Greenstein died peacefully at home in Boca Raton on August 14, 2020 after a short illness, and a very long life, survived by his loving wife of almost 78 years, Sarah. Born June 1, 1920, Payce celebrated his 100th birthday on a Zoom video call with 45+ direct descendants, other loving family and dear friends. While his overall health was declining, his sense of humor was not, and he left an amazing legacy:
3 devoted sons and daughters-in-law: Marty (& Judith Stevens), Robert (& Barbara) & Neil (& Karen);
16 loving grandchildren (including spouses and step-grandchildren);
18 cherished great-grandchildren (including step-great grandchildren) - one born just hours before he died.
Payce's life included amazing challenges and accomplishments, and he left his mark on his native Boston, and then Florida. He survived the 20's, the Great Depression and WW II (first at the Boston/Charlestown Navy Yard, then aboard the USS Pentheus in Manila). Payce spent decades as a master electrician, founded and built two successful electrical contracting businesses (Star and Payce Electric), raised three great sons who did him proud and expanded the legacy he and Sarah launched, and outlived all of his siblings and generational family, and pretty much all of his legions of admiring friends. And he lived to see the Red Sox win four World Series! A man of infinite patience and kindness, he never had a harsh word for anyone, always had a joke for everyone and was a cherished friend to many. And Payce did all this with the love of his life, Sarah, by his side since 1942.
Funeral arrangements through Levitt & Weinstein are pending, but in line with the times, will be mainly by Zoom, with interment at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens in Boynton Beach. Limited onsite presence may be available for those who prefer.
