Robert Miller's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Miller, age 88 died peacefully at home on September 6, 2025. Bob was the son of the late Lola and Michael Miller and was born in Vienna, Austria but emigrated to the US when he was 3 years old and was then raised in Brooklyn, NY. He played collegiate basketball at Columbia University and later graduated with a degree in Pharmacy. Early on he worked in various pharmacies and eventually became the co-owner of ABC Drugs in Mt. Vernon, NY.
For just shy of 65 years he was the loving husband to Barbara, and the proud father of Linda (and Mark) Harrigan and Lori (and Kris) Kademian, as well as loving Poppy to Garret (and Kaitlyn) Nemser, and Dylan Harrigan. Bob raised his family primarily in Edgemont, NY before he and Barbara retired to Florida in 2007.
Bob was an avid sports fan, passionate about the NY Giants, NY Mets, NY Knicks and all sports, especially tennis which he played for many years with his whole family. Some of his favorite pastimes were going to or watching the Giants' football games with Barbara and dear friends, sister-in-law Toby and brother-in-law Gene and tailgating before the games. They even got to attend two winning Superbowls together, countless Mets games, US Open tennis matches, and many vacations. Other favorite past times together were enjoying all the holidays, playing canasta, dinner at Tung Sing for Chinese food or Jahn's for ice cream with their families on Sunday evenings. He also loved spending time playing tennis with his best friend from childhood Fred Muehlgay, and when he and Barbara got to vacation annually with him and his dear wife Harriet.
Aside from his loving wife Barbara, daughters Linda (and Mark), Lori (and Kris), grandsons Garret (and Kaitlyn) and Dylan, Bob is survived by his sister-in-law Karen (Miller) and brother-in-law Eddie (Gefter), along with many cousins, nieces and nephews, all who will miss him greatly. He was pre-deceased by his beloved brother Irwin, brothers-in-law Gene and Alvin, and sisters-in-law Toby, Frida and Jean along with several close friends.
Bob's funeral will be held at graveside on Sunday, September 14th at Sharon Gardens, 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations are gratefully accepted in Bob's memory to B'Nai B'rith, International: https://bnaibrith.org or Trustbridge Hospice Care: https://trustbridge.com.
