Rose Mary Limoges' Obituary
On February 1, 2021, Rose Marie Kerr-Limoges passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by loved ones. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.
Rose was born in Key West, Florida on October 31, 1929, where she grew up and graduated from Key West High School in 1946. While in high school, she held her first job with her two Tio’s and Tia at Perez Brothers’ Bakery, which is where she acquired her exquisite baking skills. She is credited with making the most amazing wedding and birthday cakes, and her baking was always at the center of family celebrations.
Soon after high school, Rose married her childhood sweetheart, Ernest Sawyer, and together, they took over the family business which eventually became Sawyer's Paint Store. Known to locals as Miss Rose, she ran the business until she retired in 1989.
In 1978, she married Joseph Limoges, her lifelong partner until the Lord called her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kermit & Maria Kerr, and her brother, Kermit Kerr (Bucky). She is survived by her sister Maggie Kerr-Long (Bill), brother Sidney Kerr (Nancy), and her husband, Joseph Limoges. She is also survived by three children; her son, David Sawyer, and her two daughters, Debra Sawyer-Crockett (Dave) and Patricia Sawyer-Hachmann (Jon). Rose has seven grandchildren; Dave Sawyer (Sherry), Scott Sawyer (Crystal), January Brooks, Jenny Gooderham (Shane), James Sawyer, Kelli Crockett, and David Crockett, Jr. She has eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a third on the way.
She will be greatly missed by those who loved her dearly.
A church service will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 2:00pm at Old Stone United Methodist Church, 600 Eaton Street Key West, FL 33040 with interment to follow at Key West Cemetery, Key West, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander-Levitt Funerals & Cremations 8135 W. McNab Road Tamarac, FL 33321.
