Ruth A. Hill's Obituary
Ruth Ann Hill (nee Teitel) was born in The Bronx in 1935 to Sigmund (Zanvil) and Regina Teitel. She graduated from Washington Irving High School in 1951 and met Herbert Hill when he was visiting an aunt who lived in the same building as her and her parents. They married in June 1955 and moved to Philadelphia. The following year they moved to Chicago, where Herbert was from, and in 1975 the family moved to Florida.
Ruth was preceded in death by Herb by only 4 months. She is survived by her three children, Steven (Goldie), Stuart (Cindy), and Dara, and five grandchildren, Julie, Jared, Rob, Leslie (Bulut), and Justin (Cheyenne). She loved each of them with her whole heart and taught all of her children and grandchildren to appreciate good food, the joys of cooking, and all manner of artistic pursuits, including the creative and fine arts, the performing arts, and the written word. Even after she'd begun hospice care, Ruth still drew and wrote in rhyme, and her artwork holds a special place in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
When people would ask Ruth the secret to her and Herb's long marriage she would smile and say she wasn't done nagging her husband yet. She never lost her sense of humor, and always appreciated a good joke or pun.
A funeral service will be held at the Levitt Weinstein Beth David Memorial Chapel, 3201 N 72nd Street, Hollywood, Florida, on August 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm, followed by burial at Beth David Memorial Gardens. Shiva will be at 6:30 pm. The family would like to thank everyone for their support and love. Arrangements by Levitt-Weinstein Blasberg-Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapel (305) 932-2700.
