Ruth Kaplan's Obituary
Ruth Kaplan of Deerfield Beach, FL, and formerly of Philadelphia, PA, died on November 13, 2021 at the age of 91.
The youngest among five sisters and two brothers, Ruth lived in Philadelphia until 1977, when she joined three of her sisters and one brother in moving to Deerfield Beach and becoming original owners of condominiums in Century Village East.
Ruth and her sister, Esther Kaplan, lived together until Esther’s death in 2008. As the last of the Kaplan siblings, Ruth remained in her condo unit until just four days before she died in hospice care.
Ruth worked in retail sales and management her entire career. Much of that career was spent as a floor manager for EJ Korvette, a defunct chain of discount department stores, at their Philadelphia location.
Upon moving to Deerfield Beach, she worked as a store manager for the Florence Fuller Child Development Center Thrift Shop in Boca Raton, where she coordinated donations and worked with a cadre of volunteers until retirement.
Ruth also served as an officer of her building’s condo association for several years.
Ruth is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, plus grandnieces and grandnephews.
Interment is at Eternal Light Memorial Gardens, 11520 State Road 7, Boynton Beach, FL 33473 on November 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
