Vanessa Henriques
March 7, 1980 - April 3, 2021
The last of seven children and the fifth daughter of Lloyd and Audrey Henriques was born on the island of New Providence on March 7th 1980. She was named Vanessa Kristy. “Nessa” or “Baby”, as she was affectionately called by all who knew her, was a determined child, with an endearing spirit. Her early childhood was rooted in Fresh Creek Andros, where she had won the affections of the community. “Poogie,” was the whole settlement of Fresh Creek Andros’ little sister. At age 5 she entered Fresh Creek Primary School, then went on to complete Junior School at Central Andros Secondary School. In 1994 Vanessa moved to Nassau, to complete her High School education. After graduating from L. W. Young Secondary School in 1997 Vanessa relocated to Florida to pursue higher education; however, this was delayed. Shortly after Vanessa relocated to Florida, she met and fell in love with Ronnie Riddle. After a brief courtship they were married on October 20th 1998, they remained married for 12 years. Vanessa worked at several jobs, inclusive of patient admission at Aventura Hospital . Once divorced, Vanessa was determined to go back to school to complete her original journey. She decided to follow her older sister and pursue a career in Nursing. Vanessa was a fun loving outgoing young woman, she was the life of the party! She was the girlish “cool” aunt; who was a buddy to all of her nieces and nephews. She entertained them in whatever they wished to do-she too was still very much a child at heart. She lived her life on her own terms. She was very much a free spirit; she hated restrictions. Vanessa embraced every opportunity to enjoy life. She was fiercely determined and passionate about life. She pursued the things that made her happy. Vanessa loved laughter, she could light a room with her radiant smile. Nessa always saw the good in everyone and everything. She maintained a positive attitude towards others, this attribute enabled her to create life-long friendships. She was willing to assist anyone in need. She possessed a strong sense of right from wrong, Vanessa was plain speaking, she told the truth even though it might hurt. She had faith in God, she believed that through Him all things were possible. Our Vaessa was an extraordinary young woman, an affectionate, caring daughter, loving sister, niece, aunt and friend.
